Olsen, Mr. and Mrs. Chris (20 June 1917 -22 June 1967)

Mr. and Mrs. Christian Olsen, Loyal, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 18. The couple and their children and families attended church services at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal after which a dinner for the immediate family w as served in the parish hall. Open house was held there from 2 to 4 p.m. for relatives and friends.

Mrs. Olsen’s corsage was of yellow roses and her husband wore a gold boutonniere for the occasion.

The couple were married June 20, 1917, at Greenwood by the Rev. Theo. Kleppe. The couples wedding attendants were Mrs. Clarence (Dollie Johnson) Aaberg now deceased; and Sigward Johnson, Loyal, a cousin of Mr. Olsen who attended the occasion with his wife.

Christian Olsen, the son of Andrew and Ellen Olsen was born at Hartford on October 24, 1891 and attended school in the town of Unity. He farmed in the Greenwood area for eleven years after his marriage and then farmed in the Loyal area until retirement in 1956 and has resided in the city since. He was school clerk and treasurer at different times and also served on the church board.

Mrs. Olsen is the former Julia Angeline Dyre. She was born at Greenwood, September 2, 1898 and was educated in the town of Warner. Both are members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal.

They are parents of six sons and one daughter, Conrad, Marshfield; Vern, West Allis; Howard, Owen; Arthur and John, Loyal; Rev. Floyd, Souix Rapids, Iowa; and Mrs. James (Ella) Stevens, Sun Prairie. There are 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Other friends and relatives in attendance came from Rolling Meadows and Chicago, Illinois; Milwaukee, West Allis, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Withee, Thorp, Owen, Loyal, Greenwood, Eau Claire, DeForest, Neillsville, Janesville and Kingsley, Iowa.
