Potocnik, Eileen K. (Marriage - 8 January 1972)

The First Congregational Church in Wisconsin Rapids was the setting at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 8, for the marriage of Miss Eileen K. Potocnik and Anthony Esposito. The Rev. Jerold Biertsch officiated at the ceremony, which he planned and wrote together with the assistance of the bride and groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Potocnik of Owen. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Esposito of Bronx, N.Y., are the groom’s parents.

For her marriage, the bride chose a gown of ivory crepe styled with an empire waist and trimmed with lace. A lace crown held her full-length veil. She carried a bouquet of purple orchids with stephanotis and white tea roses as she was given in marriage by her father.

Parents and sisters of the bride and groom escorted the couple down the aisle.

The bride’s mother wore a plum crepe gown and the mother of the groom wore a royal blue crepe gown. Kathie and Janice Potocnik, sisters of the bride, wore plum floral gowns. Ann Marie Esposito, the groom’s sister, wore a plum midi-length gown. Each carried a pink rose, and the mothers wore purple orchid and pink tea rose corsages.

Guests were seated by Kurt Bublitz and Terry Laube, cousins of the bride.

A dinner for immediate family was served at Wilburn’s in Wisconsin Rapids following the ceremony. Approximately 200 guests attended an 8:30 p.m. reception and dance at the Meadowview Country Club in Owen.

The bride, who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1971 with a Bachelors degree in sociology is presently employed with the Clark County Department of Social Services. Her husband graduated in 1968 from the University of Bridgeport in Ct. with a Bachelors degree in accounting, and is establishing a Drop In Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

The newlyweds will make their home in Neillsville. They are on a wedding trip to a Michigan ski lodge.
