Sloniker, Maxine (30 NOV 1944)

The Rev. Jerome Miller read the double ring ceremony at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington, Iowa at 7:30, Thursday evening November 30, at which Miss Maxine Sloniker, Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sloniker, Greenwood became the bride of Technical Sgt. Leonard E. Benson, United States Marine Corps.

They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. George J. Flaatten, Burlington, cousin of the groom.

The bride wore a beautiful green dress, styled to correspond with the groom’s uniform.  The red tea roses in the bride’s corsage contrasted sharply with the all green dress she wore for the occasion.  The bride’s maid of honor wore a purple two piece dress and a corsage of yellow tea roses.

The groom’s attendant wore the uniform of the Iowa State Guard.

The bride is a graduate of the Greenwood High School, class of 1941.  The groom is a graduate of the Racine High School, class of 1939.  He also attended the University of Wisconsin and the Dodge Radio Institute of Valparaiso, Indiana.

They intend to make their home in New River, North Carolina, where the groom is to be stationed.

The Gleaner joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for many years of happy married life.
