Luchterhand, Ruth (26 July 1910 - 27 March 1972)

Funeral services for Mrs. Alvin (Ruth) Luchterhand, 61, of Rt. Unity, who died March 27, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, were held Thursday, March 30 at 1:30 p.m. from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Green Grove. The Rev. Arthur Rasch officiated and burial was made in the Lutheran Cemetery at Loyal. The Roycraft Funeral Home at Loyal was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Luchterhand, the former Ruth Swany, was born July 26, 1910, at Neillsville and grew up there. Her marriage to Arthur Schaefer took place August 24, 1929. She was married to Alvin Luchterhand December 13, 1960, in Nevada. Mrs. Luchterhand, who was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and of its Ladies Aid Society, moved to the Loyal and Unity areas in 1941.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Sloniker of Medford and Mrs. Roger (Arlene) Lee of Luxemburg; her mother, Mrs. Minnie Bartosz; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Robert, Orville and Melvin Luchterhand, Otis Kath, Edward Raatz and Joseph Nikolai. “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Rock of Ages: were sung by Mrs. Romaine Rassow, and Mrs. Calvin Schultz was the organist.
