Ystad, Roger R. (10 JAN 1940 - 16 MAY 2014)

Roger R. Ystad, 74, Baraboo, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 16, 2014, surrounded by his family and friends. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 27, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Baraboo. Rev. Jonathon Tipton officiated.

Roger Ystad was born on Jan. 10, 1940, to Ralph and Elenor (nee Olson) Ystad.

He dedicated his working career to Wisconsin Power and Light. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, who truly appreciated wildlife. He loved playing cards with his buddies. Roger will be remembered as a strong member of the community. He was a longtime member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited, and had a passion for teaching hunter safety courses.

He is survived by his two daughters, Lori and Lisa Ystad; three grandchildren, Alicia (Joe) Challoner, Jenny Ferkey, and Nicholas Ystad; five great-grandchildren, Destini, Justus, Jade, Phoenix, and Sofia; a brother, Neil Ystad; and a sister, Gwen Trebe.

His family would like to thank Colleen Nist and her children, Aaron, Tracy, Jason, Kendra, Megan, and Kelsey for their many years of love and companionship; and his "Little Buddy" Mark.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elenor; his brother, Ron Ystad; and his loving wife of 18 years, Nancy Young Ystad.

Redlin Funeral Home, Baraboo, assisted the family with arrangements.
