Marvin W. High, 1, rural Loyal, was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning at the intersection of Twenty Six Road and Meridian Avenue in the Town of Sherman. The Clark County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning reporting the crash.

Clark County Sheriff Greg Herrick said Monday a vehicle being driven by Elizabeth A. Breu, 21, rural Loyal, was traveling south on Meridian Avenue. It failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the intersection of Twenty Six Road. As it entered the intersection, it struck the passenger side of a westbound truck being driven by High.

After being struck by the car, High’s truck entered the south ditch, started to spin and flipped onto its side, striking a power pole. The truck bounced off the pole and came to rest on its wheels.

Breu’s vehicle spun and entered the southwest ditch, striking a second power pole located at the intersection.

Breu was transported to Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield for treatment of Nonlife-threatening injuries. Clark County Coroner Richard Schleifer pronounced High dead at the scene.

The Spencer Fire Department and Ambulance Service responded to the scene. Herrick said both operators used seatbelts and speed was not believed to be a factor in the accident, with the investigation continuing.

This is the second traffic fatality in Clark County for 2014.
