Niggemann, Gale A. (Dassow) (17 MAY 1958 - 15 JUL 2014)

Gale A. Niggemann, 56, town of Chelsea, died on Tuesday, July 15 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where she had been a patient the past 13 days. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at Chelsea Community Cemetery in the town of Chelsea. Pallbearers are Dave and Jason Hraby, Ryan Bahr, Jesse Niggemann, Mark Dassow and Matt Ulrich.

Visitation will be held at the church social center and fireplace lounge on Friday, July 18 from 4 p.m. until the 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the church, and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Gale Dassow was born on May 17, 1958 in Medford to Gerald and Evangeline (Jari) Dassow. She attended Fairfield Elementary School in the town of Goodrich, Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Day School in Medford, and was a graduate of Medford High School. She worked at Welcome Inn Motel and Weather Shield in Medford.

On June 14, 1980 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea, she married George H. Niggemann Jr., who survives. They farmed in the town of Chelsea until her recent ill health.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Historic St. Ann's in the town of Greenwood, and she sponsored Children from St. Jude. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her faith, her church, 4-wheeling, traveling, and helping with Knights of Columbus activities.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her mother, Evangeline Dassow of Medford; three children, Justin (Emily) Niggemann of Chelsea, Aaron (Rochelle) Niggemann of Marshfield and Brian (Megan) Niggemann of Caledonia; five siblings, Duane (Linda) Dassow, Russ (special friend Lenore) Dassow, Jerry (Cindy) Dassow, Lynn (Duane) Bahr and Gordon Dassow, all of Medford; and four grandchildren, Katie Grace, Josh and Nicole Niggemann.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Dassow, and a brother-in-law, Dave Hraby.
