Swenson, Mr. and Mrs. John (Golden-1972)

Approximately 160 persons attended the open house Sunday afternoon at the United Methodist Church honoring Mr. and Mrs. John Swenson of Neillsville on their golden wedding anniversary. Those present came from Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, Rock Falls, Wabasha, Mn, Stewartville, Mn, Red Wing, Mn, Wisconsin Rapids, Galesville, Gilmanton, Waukesha and Westfield, in addition to Neillsville and the surrounding area.

The Swenson’s four sons and their families who planned the observance were all home for the event. Other close family members attending were her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hart of Wabasha, Mn, her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Belden of Eau Claire, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Carlson of Red Wing, Mn.

A center piece of fall -colored mums and white spider daisies was the gift of Mr. Swenson’s nephew, Darrel Dahl, and was wire from Florida.

Mrs. Henry Thoma baked and decorated a special cake for the open house. The Swenson’s received many gifts and well wishes on the occasion.

The open house at the church was preceded by a family dinner Saturday evening at Bali Hai supper club. A get-together was held at the Swenson home following the open house.
