------ Haas, Rita Mae (02 JUL 1966)

Marriage vows were exchanged between Miss Rita Mae Haas and Richard William Kloehn during a nuptial high mass at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby, Saturday July 2.

The parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haas and Mr. and Mrs. Victor M. Kloehn, all of Unity.

The Rev. John B. Pinion officiated at the mass and witnessed the marriage contract. Mrs. Alois Gabriel was organist and accompanist for St. Mary’s choir.

Miss Karleen Kloehn of Unity and Miss Nancy Salter of Wausau as bridesmaids, and Miss Joyce A. Haas of Oxen Hall, Md., as maid of honor, preceded the bride to the altar. Each wore a pink floor-length formal of nylon sheer over taffeta with bateau neckline, fitted midriff and sheath skirt accented by a large bow and streamers at the back. Their headpieces were matching crowns of crystal with a pouf veil. Pink and white gardenias made up their bouquets.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, appeared in a gown of lace and nylon sheer with a Watteau train. The basque bodice had a jewel trimmed scalloped Sabrina neckline and long sleeves. Her bouffant veil was attached to a double crown of pearls with teardrop crystals. A white orchid centered her bouquet of red roses and white carnations with small streamers tipped with red rosebuds and fragrant lilies of the valley.

Melvin Kloehn of Unity served as best man for his brother’s marriage. Robert Haas of Unity, a brother of the bride, and David Freimund of Milan, a friend of the groom, completed the wedding party.

Leonard Haas, Unity, brother of the bride, and Karl Nemec of Spencer, a cousin of the groom, performed the ushering duties for the guests who came from Washington, D. C., Maryland, Canada, Minnesota, Chicago, Roselle and Elgin, Ill., Madison, Ladysmith, Colby, Abbotsford, Spencer, Dorchester, Marshfield, Eden, Spencer, Milan, Loyal, Owen, West Bend, Wausau, Edgar, Granton and Withee.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Unity memorial hall and supper was served at St. Mary’s church hall to about 200 guests. The new Mr. and Mrs. Kloehn received the congratulations and best wishes of friends and relatives at a wedding dance at Unity Memorial hall.

They left on a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and are now at home at route 2, Spencer. The groom is employed at Spencer Sports Products and his bride is employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Co., Marshfield. Both are graduates of the Colby high school.
