Meyer, Gilbert Adolph (21 July 1902 - 3 November 1972)

Gilbert A. Meyer, 70, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died early Friday morning in Kaukauna Community Hospital following a heart attack.

Gilbert Adolph Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Meyer, was born July 21, 1902, in Greenwood. He was married on August 30, 1930 to the former Viola Brandt at Withee. He lived most of his life in the Greenwood area, where he worked as a garage mechanic for many years. His wife died October 27, 1967.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Joyce) Abel of Kaukauna; two grandchildren, Mark and Kay Abel; and a brother, Elmer Meyer of Springhill, Fla.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday from Zion United Church of Christ in Greenwood. The Rev. David Logue officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Schneider, Hugh Severson, Dr. R. L. Barnes, Carl Turnquist, Ronald Abel and Arthur Turnquist. The congregation sang, “Rock of Ages” and “A Might Fortress”, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Harvey Candler, Mrs. Lowell Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knapp, Kaukauna; Mrs. John Widmer, Holcombe; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brandt and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brandt, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Abel, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Ingvold Hembre, Madison; Wally and Marion Passion, Rita Mitchell, Bud and Lois Juliot, Kaukauna, and friends from Nebraska and Green Bay.
