Mr./Mrs. Morris Sterzinger (Silver - 22 Sep. 1966)

Mr. and Mrs. Morris Sterzinger observed their 25th wedding anniversary September 22 and celebrated the event Saturday, Oct. 1.  The couple attended high mass at 8:15 a.m., then greeted friends and relatives at their home until mid-afternoon when the anniversary dinner for nearly 200 guest was served at St. Mary’s school gymnasium.  The Sterzinger children presented pink and white carnation corsages to their mother and to Mrs. Laura Sterzinger and Mrs. Johanna Patten, mothers of the bride and groom, and to the bridesmaid, Mrs. Donald Gessert.  White carnation boutonnieres were presented to Morris, and to Randall Sterzinger, who had served as best man.

The anniversary cake was baked and decorated by Mrs. Frank Sterzinger, and served to the guests at the dinner.

An evening of fun and dancing was held at Cherokee Park and the main event of the evening was the mock wedding, with Charles Frueh as the frock coated minister; Randall Sterzinger as the the bride who was seen in a red and white polka-dot shift, black shoes and socks and holding a bouquet of purple asters.  The bridesmaid Leonard Bauer,  wore a black and white striped shift and carried an arrangement of lavender and white mums.  The groom and the best man were Elaine Bauer and Lorena Sterzinger, respectively.  Bernard Huss caught the “bridal bouquet”.

Morris Sterzinger and Corsina Patten were married at St. Mary’s Church in Colby, on Sep 22, 1941, with rev. Leo Lang officiating. Attending the couple were her sister, Jean (Mrs. Donald Gessert) and Randall Sterzinger.  The lived in Madison until Morris entered the service in December, 1941.  Throughout their twenty-five years together the Sterzingers have lived in Abilene, Tex., Seattle, Wash., Okinawa, Louisville, Ky., Japan, Valparaiso, Fla., San Antonio, Tex., and upon his retirement as Lieut. Col. In January, 1966, moved to Colby to make their home.  They are the parents of nine children:  2nd Lieut. Morris Jr., Keesler AF Hospital, Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Miss., Robert, attending University of Florida at Gainesville, Steven and James both students at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Gerald, Wayne, Gary, Laurie and Frank, all at home.
