Weideman, Harvey E. (27 JUN 1920 - 8 AUG 2014)

Harvey E. Weideman, age 94, of Curtiss, passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the Clark County Health Care Center.

Harvey was born on June 27, 1920, the son of Hebert and Tillie (Sauter) Weideman in Abbotsford. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942, and was honorably discharged in 1945. The battles and campaigns he was part of during WWII were Sicilian, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.

Harvey was united in marriage to Marianne Skutak on February 28, 1950, at the Owen Gospel Tabernacle. Together they farmed in Curtiss. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization and Colby VFW Post No. 2227. Harvey enjoyed hunting, auctions and horses.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Marianne of Medford; his son, Terry, Curtiss; his daughter, Sandra Aschbrenner, Medford; granddaughter, Traci (Jonathan) Wass, Grand Blanc, Mich.; and great-grandson, Ethan Wass. He is further survived by his sister, Arlene Weideman, Colby; brother, Robert (Helen) Weideman, Curtiss; sister-in-law, Lydia Weideman, Colby; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Vivian Ramker, Mae Harder, Joyce Weideman; and his brothers, James and Arthur Weideman.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Curtiss Alliance Church in Curtiss. Pastor Carl Swarr presided. Family and friends were welcomed from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen and again from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Interment with military honors provided by the Colby VFW Post No. 2227 was in Pine Hill Cemetery.
