Lechleitner, Leonard Joseph (24 NOV 1932 - 6 SEP 2014)

Leonard Joseph Lechleitner passed away on September 6, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

He was born on November 24, 1932 in Jump River to the late Charles and Opal (Boardman) Lechleitner. On July 24, 1954, he married Shirley Day at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donald. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2011.

After their marriage, they made their first home in Merrill before moving to a farm in 1966 in the town of Rietbrock, Marathon County. He worked as an A.I. technician for 21st Century Genetics for 38 years. Leonard and his wife, Shirley, also operated the Snack Shack Restaurant on Highway 29 from 1975 until 2002.

Leonard touched many lives. He genuinely cared for others and loved to engage them in conversation. Leonard also enjoyed polka music, dancing and spending winters in Texas.
Survivors include his special friend, Margaret Robl of Edgar; daughters, Colleen (Roger) Johnson of Eau Claire, and Lynn Lechleitner of Edgar; sons, Greg (Brenda) of Suring and Gary (Connie) of Edgar; 10 grandchildren, Ryan (Julie) Johnson and Yasmin (Ben) Turner, Jett and Eann Shepro, Cody and Trent Lechleitner, and Kelby, Cedric, Kia and Xavier Lechleitner; and three great-grandchildren, Evan Johnson, and Brecken and Miles Turner. He is further survived by siblings, Dolores "Sis" Olynick of Holcombe, Alvin (Marcia) Lechleitner of Eau Claire and Marilyn (Tim) Corpe of Big Lake, Minn.; brother-in-law, Billy (Priscilla) Day of Hannibal; sister-in-law, Deana Hoffman of Sun City, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents and wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Clarence and Donald, and brothers-in-law, Elwood Hoffman and John Olynick.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Poniatowski. Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Edgar, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
