Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 15 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomahawk, with Rev. Mark Schoenherr officiating.

He owned and operated Viegut's Do It Express of Tomahawk for close to 50 years. He was also a licensed cheesemaker for 10 years.

He was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and received numerous awards and recognitions for his community involvement including the Lifetime Service Award from Governor Walker in 2013. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the cabin making maple syrup, growing Christmas trees and tending to his garden, flowers and plants.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Brian (Carmen) Viegut of Tomahawk; a daughter, Brenda Moss of Waunakee; three brothers, James (Sherry) Viegut and Mark (Darla) Viegut, both of Abbotsford, and Jeff (Sue) Viegut of Tripoli; eight sisters, Charmaine (Harold) Amacher and Judy (Verlyn) Wittlinger, both of Abbotsford, Yvonne (Donnie) Koerner of Dorchester, Jelaine (Jerrell) Carstensen of Medford, Gail (Duane) Underwood of Colby, Debra (Greg) Stoiber of Green Bay, and Cindy (Jeff) Sebold and Carla (Duane) Wepfer, both of Marshfield; a sister-in-law, Joyce Viegut of Abbotsford; and four grandchildren, Taylor, McKena, Alex and Elise.
