Junchen, Harold Leo (11 November 1909 - 9 February 1973)

Funeral services for a Town of Washburn man, Harold Leo Junchen, 63, of Rt., 1 Neillsville, who died February 9, were held Monday afternoon from Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant, the church which he recently served as president. The Rev. Richard Eggen officiated and interment was in the church cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Junchen, the son of Ernest and Anna (Pagenkopf) Junchen, was born November 11, 1909, in Neillsville and lived on the same farm throughout his lifetime. He was educated in rural schools and attended Neillsville High School. His marriage to the former Norma Schmall took place June 6, 1942, in Clark County.

In addition to serving as president of Zion American Lutheran Church and in other church offices during his lifetime, Mr. Junchen was on the board of directors of the rural volunteer fire department and of the Farmers Union Co-op, and was a member of the Washburn town board. He was also a member of Zion American Lutheran Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Miss Elmira Junchen of Menasha, and a brother, Lawrence Junchen of Sherrard, Ill.

Funeral services for Harold L. Junchen, 63, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, who died February 9, were held February 12 from Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant. The Rev. Richard Eggen officiated and burial was made in the church cemetery. The Georgas Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Ernest Horehled, Robert Braatz, David Junchen, Norman Braatz, William Rizner and Ernest Kuhn. The congregation sand “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” and “O God, Our Help in Ages Past.” Mrs. Leland Garbisch was the organist.

Those from out of town who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Junchen and David Junchen of Sherrard, Ill., Miss Elmira Junchen of Menasha and Robert Braatz of Beaver Dam, as well as friends and relatives from Humbird, Madison, Appleton, Menasha, Neenah, Marshfield and Granton.
