Sp. 4 Larry Frese, U.S. Army of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), will be awarded the Silver Star for service in the Republic of Viet Nam by Col. John T. Little, Wisconsin Sector Commander, Milwaukee, Wis., at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10th, 1967, at the American Legion here.

Spec. 4 Larry Frese, who returned recently from combat duty in Vietnam, was saluted Saturday by residents of his home town and army personnel; for heroic service against the Viet Cong.

Frese received the Silver Star from Col. John T. Little, Milwaukee, in public ceremonies at the American Legion Hall.

Larry, 22, is credited with leading an 11-member team in capturing a Viet Cong camp, three villages, and schoolhouse, and destroying an enemy hospital and storage houses.  Several Viet Cong were taken prisoner and thousands of dollars worth of supplies were destroyed during the operation last September.

Shortly after the operation Larry became ill and required hospitalization in Vietnam.  He returned home recently and accepted a position in Milwaukee.

Mayor Frank Wadzinski ahd declared Saturday as "Larry Frese Day."
