Greenwood (5 July 1973)

The birthdays of Mrs. Anna Susa and Mrs. Marie Meinhardt were celebrated at a party held Tuesday at the Black River apartments where both reside. Games were played, after with a potluck supper was served.

Mrs. Hazel Stoneburg arrived Sunday from Portland, Ore., for a visit at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Behrens, and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Stoneburg is a former resident of Greenwood.

Mrs. Harlan Brux and daughter, Judith, spent from Friday until Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rich Ermilio in River Grove, Il., and with Miss Janet Brux in Glendale Heights, Il. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. John Horton and with their son and brother, Mark Brux, who is spending two weeks at the Horton home in Madison.

Mr. and Mrs. Humke and daughters, Kristie and Shelley of Rochester, Mn., were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart.

The Wednesday afternoon bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Glen Drew.

Mrs. Elwin Hegenbarth returned Monday after a two and a half week visit with her daughters, Mrs. Maurice Nielsen and family at Oregon, and with Mrs. Donald Sorenson and family at Milwaukee.

Mrs. Erma Wehrman entertained member of the Canasta club at a dinner meeting Friday evening at her home.

Mr and Mrs. Frank Hoagland and sons, Kip, Trent and Travis, of Tucson, Ariz., and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Miller and son, Chad, of Monticello, Ind., spent from Wednesday until Monday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heck.

The Busy Badgers 4-H club met Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kitzhaber. Alan Kitzhaber presided. The flag pledges were given. Members were reminded to have their dues in by July meeting. Place and time will announced later. Health and safety talks were given by Ann and Jerry Kitzhaber.
A demonstration was given by Alicia Kesler on Photography. Those who are planning to participate in the demonstration contest to be held July 12 in the Clark County Courthouse auditorium, should have had their glands in by July 1. Members are reminded to get started on fair projects as soon as possible. A lunch was served by the host family.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heck and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoagland and sons of Tucson, Ariz., and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Miller and son of Monticello, Ind., were dinner gusts Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hohl.

Louis Schmall has returned to Merced, Calif., after spending a week at the home of Mr and Mrs. Lawrence Cox; and with other relatives and friends in the area.

Mrs. Don Warner spent the weekend in Chetek at the home of her son, Harold (Dick) Warner, and family. Her granddaughters, Mary and Kristine Warner returned with her for a week’s visit.

Over 70 members of the Indjger family held their annual family get- together June 23 and 24 at Wisconsin Dells. Mrs. Louise Ellingson was present from Greenwood and she also spent several days in Strum with relatives.

Mrs. Leon Kuester went to Merrill Friday evening and on her return she was accompanied by Mrs. Douglas Luther, who spent until Sunday here with her mother, Mrs. William Kuester, and Loretta. She also visited her brother, Leon Kuester and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson went to Madison Thursday to get Chris Johnson, who was dismissed from the Veterans Hospital, where he had been a patient for 12 days.

The Forest Queen Royal Neighbors met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Julia Koci.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart have returned from a three-week and two-day trip to Europe. They visited at Plon, Germany, with their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Kenton Stewart and family. While there they visited Northwest Germany, Denmark and Sweden.

Mrs. Effie Swieso has returned after a trip to the west. She accompanied her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Thiede, Sr., and daughter, Roxanne of Marshfield. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Thiede, Jr., in Ames, Ia.; and then went to Denver, Colo., where they visited Mrs. Swieso’s son, and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Vernard Swieso and family. The Thiede’s went on to attend the graduation of their son, James, from a college in Calif. The Vernard Swieso family brought his mother home.
