Ampe, Ronald F. (9 APR 1948 – 26 NOV 2014)

Ronald F. Ampe, 66, formerly of Loyal, died on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, following extended health issues. Full military services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyo.

Ronald was born on April 9, 1948. He attended school in Greenwood and graduated from Loyal High School in 1966. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 25th LRRP from 1967-70. He was in Vietnam in 1968 where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He received his bachelors of science degree in social work from the University of Wyoming. Throughout his life he continued to work with veterans, helping them adjust to civilian life.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Jane; his sons, Michael Howard, Joseph Howard, Ken Ampe and Chris Ampe; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Owen Howard; his parents, Paul and Clara Ampe; and his brother, Pete Ampe.
