Washburn (19 July 1973)

A bridal shower was given in honor of Mary Ann Austin recently, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Austin by her bridesmaids-to-be, Linde Schoen and Margie Cascio. Miss Austin will be married August 4 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. She has been employed in Eau Claire since her graduation from Eau Claire College. Many neighbors and friends attended the shower.

Mrs. Maurice Muglae and daughter, Mary, Birmingham, Ala., arrived by plane Thursday to spend a week with her mother, Mrs. Paul Kuhn and brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kuhn, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Kuhn met them at Mosinee.

Mrs. Ernest Kissling and Mrs. Harry Kissling drove to Prairie du Chien recently, taking the former’s daughter, Vicki, who attended athletic school there for a week. Vicki returned home Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Florin of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Edna Erfurth of Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahnert and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert were recent supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart.

Mrs. Harold Elmendorf and Carrie Sexton were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short. Mrs. Helen Francis was a Sunday Supper guest of the Shorts, also. Mrs. Harold Junchen, Myre Junchen, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reinart and Lawrence Reinart called there Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Galbreath of Sharon, and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Juntunen, Mrs. Barney Plummer and daughter, Mrs. Post and family of Marshfield, called recently at the Mrs. Art Odell home.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mrs. Neil Meddaugh and Mrs. Harry Kissling attended the Granton Senior Citizens picnic at Granton Park Tuesday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. David Schaub of West Bend are spending several days visiting at the Oliver Williams, Elmer Kapfer, Lee Kapfer and Nathan Vandeberg homes.

Joney and Jane Stewart of Verona spent from Friday evening until Saturday evening with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short.

Mr. and Mrs. (Jim) Albert Kapfer of West Bend spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. William Poler, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kapfer, and Mr. and Mrs. George Sherwood and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams attended a Welch singing festival in Wisconsin Rapids Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kalsow, daughter, Barbara, and son, Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short and John Reinart and daughter, Judy, called on Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Ernest Kissling and Mrs. Harry Kissling attended a bridal shower honoring Charmain Montgomery Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Virginia Trunkel.

Otto Warren was a Thursday visitor at the Oliver Williams home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz of Waterford were supper guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. John Schultz and her brother, Lawrence Reinart, also of Waterford, visited relatives around and in Neillsville and Tomah last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and sons, Wedell and Marvin, and Mrs. Art Williams, were supper guests Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Vandeberg at their cottage in Hatfield. Mr. and Mrs. Vandeberg and sons of Wisconsin Rapids spent two weeks’ vacation at their cottage.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Belm of Neillsville called Wednesday evening at the Elmer Kapfer home.

The Washburn Homemakers club picnic will be held at the Sherwood Park Sunday, July 22, instead of the 15 th as published last week. Sorry, I was misinformed.
