Members of Neillsville Diamond Rebekah Lodge No. 64 discussed the possibility of holding afternoon rather than evening meeting at their August 8 meeting. They have written to Assembly President Mary Jane Jennings, Janesville, for dispensation to make the change.

Ralph Jankowsky and sons, John and Ralph, Jr., Burlington, visited in this vicinity last Tuesday and part of Wednesday. The Jankowsky’s who had been at Wisconsin Dells, also spent some time in Fairchild where Mr. Jankowsky lived as as child. They are the family of the former Martha Steinberg, who died this May.

Mrs. James Wankovich and Mrs. Vera Shumway, Racine, spent a week in Neillsville visiting friends. Both are former Neillsville residents.

Mrs. Emily Pischer spent the weekend at Spring Green with her granddaughter, Sharon Boekley.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harder, daughter, Denise, and son, Thomas of Chicago, Il., visited Sunday with her aunt, Mrs. George Beeckler. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Okray and daughter, Emily, of Madison spent Saturday afternoon with Mrs. Beeckler.

The annual Rotary-Lions-Kiwanis golf match is to be played Monday at the Neillsville Country Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ott and family returned home to Ripon Saturday after spending a vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oldham, and with his mother, Mrs. Marie Keller. Mr. and Mrs. Ott also spent a few days of their vacation sightseeing in South Dakota.

Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rand were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kapicak and daughter, Pamela, and a friend, Gertrude Wagner, of Northbrook, Il.; their granddaughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wunluck and two children and his brother, Wayne Wunluck, La Grange Il.; and their daughter, Mrs. Harriet Ricci, also of la Grange, Il. All were enroute home after a Northern Wisconsin fishing trip. Mrs. Rand’s sister, Mrs. Margaret Meisterheim, Chicago, Il., has arrived to spend the remainder of the summer with the Rands.

The Deborah Circle of the united Methodist Church is to meet Monday evening with Mrs. Owen Haigh.

Prof. Herbert Jasper and his mother, Mrs. Martha Jasper, New Ulm, Mn, visited several days with Mrs. Mamie Blum and other friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kutzback, Des Plaines, Il., spent the weekend with Mrs. Blum.

Mr and Mrs. Marvin Marg and family and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marg were dinner guests at the Orrin Libby home Sunday.

Happy Hour Homemakers met August 9 at the home of Mrs. Alvin Schutte. The Club will meet next month with Mrs. Henry Schutte.

Mrs. Carl Thoma entertained her 500 club Sunday evening.

A surprise birthday party was held Saturday evening for Gary Slaats. After saying ‘amazing’ several times and relating that he had had no idea that a party was in the offing, Gary and his wife Jane, hosted approximately 20 people at their Hewett Street apartment. The guests included Frank and Lorna Vazquez, Tom Harnisch, and Diane Meier, Dr. Tim Harvey and Cindee Sniegowski, Charlie and Paulette Delmonico, Kan and Kay Arneson of Prairie du Chien, Mike and ‘Cookie’ Roraff, Brian and Betty Bushnell, Jack and Sandy Guler of Marshfield, Pat and Carol Walsch of Cuba City.

Gary played golf Saturday afternoon with Mike Roraff, who had offered to take the birthday celebrant out for a round of golf while preparations were being made.
