Margaret will be employed at Radio Station WIXM-AM-FM-La Crosse.

Michelle Kopcha, recently joined the Veterinary Clinic at Loyal.

She was formerly of Gary, Indiana and has wanted to be a veterinarian as long as she can remember. Her father is an M.D. She was always interested in medicine, but being an M.D. never appealed to her.

Michelle is an attractive, brown-haired, brown-eyed young lady who appears to be as comfortable in the role of a veterinarian as she would in any other career she might have chosen.

July 22, 1979 is the birth date of Aaron Robert Waldhauser, news son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Waldhauser. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. Aaron has seven brothers and six sisters at home on the 26 Road.

On July 29 he was baptized at St. Anthony’s Church in Loyal after the 10:30 Mass. Sponsors were Laurie Waldhauser, at home, and Dale Waldhauser of Texas.

His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Waldhauser of Loyal and the late Mr. And Mrs. Elmer Redig, Sr.

The Loyal High School Class of 1929 gathered at the Loyal American Legion last Saturday evening. Of the 19 members who graduated, seven were able to attend the reunion. They are as follows: Anita (Losse) Hoffman, Milwaukee; Evelyn (Neuman) Meyer, Plymouth; Armilla (Weyhmiller), Eau Claire; Daisy (Smith) Loveland, Pequot Lake, Minnesota; Clara (Braun) Mueller, Chicago; Harold Neuman, Walter Verhalen and Mr. Thomas, Principal. Six members of the class are deceased.

McCann, Mr./Mrs. Floyd (Gold – 26 Jun 1979)

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McCann of Milwaukee celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary August 5, 1979 at the home of Ed and Maridene Wagner at their rural home near Theresa.

Their children, Jim and Beverly Boyles, Ed and Maridene Wagner, and Eugene and Kathy McCann hosted the occasion, serving dinner and supper to relatives and friends. They also have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Floyd McCann and Meta Noeldner were married June 26, 1929 at Loyal. After their marriage they worked or farmed in this area and later operated a wrecking yard in Greenwood. In the early 40’s they moved to Milwaukee where the found employed and where they have resided since. Later they owned and operated an A & W Root Beer stand in Cedarburg.

Three of the original attendants, Herman Noeldner and Emma Rottjer, brother and sister of Meta, also Floyd’s sister Caroline, who was flower girl, were in attendance, and the ushers, Norbert and Erwin Noeldner, also brothers, were there.

Two of Floyd’s brothers, Ray McCann and Mr. and Mrs. Herb McCann also were in attendance, and other relatives and friends from Milwaukee, Cedarburg, Grafton, Pewaukee, Mayville, Theresa, Omro, Shawano, Richfield and Arpin.

Airman Michael B. Lindgren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard A. Lindgren of Route 2, Loyal, recently participated in Global Shield 79, an Air Force exercise conducted by the Strategic Air Command.

Airman Lindgren is a security specialist with a SAC unite at White man Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri.

Global Shield 79, which involved bomber, taker, missile and reconnaissance forces, and associated Air Force Reserve units, was the largest and most comprehensive test of SAC forces in more than 20 years.

A retirement farewell program and potluck dinner is planned for Sunday, August 19, 1979 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Honored guests will be Pastor and Mrs. Bruno Schlachtenhaufen. He is retiring from the ministry and has served Trinity for the past three years. Previous to coming to Loyal he had served as District President of the Iowa District for 12 years.

A farewell program and potluck dinner will follow the 9 o’clock church service in fellowship hall. In addition to members of the congregation, everyone in the community is invited to participate in any or all of the events.

The Schlachtenhaufens will be moving to their retirement home near Tomahawk. Full retirement is still a couple of years away, as Pastor Schlachtenhaufen has been asked to serve as National Director of the Appeals Fund for Seminaries for the American Lutheran Church. He expected to being his new work on October 1, 1979.

Miss Berdell Kay Nielsen, Greenwood, and Paul F. Boutwell, Mazomanie, Wisconsin, were united in marriage on Saturday, July 28, 1979, at 7:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Sam Kochel performed the ceremony, and the organist was Inez Navrestad, and the singers were Donna Olson and Eleanor Johnson.

The bride is the daughter of Henry and Beatrice Nielsen, Greenwood, and the parents of the groom are Lou and Rose Boutwell, Mazomanie, Wisconsin.

The bride given in marriage by her father, was seen in an ivory pointille gown with a tiara of baby’s breath and a bouquet of golden garnette roses and baby’s breath.

Mrs. Ed (Sharon) Bushman served as maid of honor. She was attired in a light apricot pointille gown with a scooped neck and a full skirt. She carried a Colonial bouquet of miniature yellow carnations and yellow daisy mums. Miss Carried Nielsen, Greenwood, was the flower girl. She carried a basket of flowers with miniature carnations and yellow daisy mums.

Performing the duties of best man was Jerry Anderson, Mauston. Ring bearer was Ryan Nielsen, Greenwood. The ushers were David Boutwell and Harris Nielsen, Greenwood.

A reception was held at the Loyal American Legion Hall on Sunday, July 29.

The bride is a 1973 graduate of Greenwood High School, a 1975 graduate of Indianhead Tech. School, Rice Lake, and a 1979 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.

The groom graduated from Madison West High School in 1972 and is a 1977 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He is employed at the Sod Farm, Mazomanie, Wisconsin.

After a wedding trip to Door County the couple will reside at 9312 Spring Valley Road, Mazomanie, Wisconsin.
