Wendt, Clara (7 APR 1889 – 17 JUL 1965)

Funeral services were held in Zion United Church of Christ, Greenwood at 1 p.m. Tuesday for Mrs. Clara Wendt, 76, town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.), who died at Memorial Hospital at Neillsville on Saturday. She had suffered a hip fracture in April. The service was conducted by Rev. Orval Egbert and burial was made in Greenwood Cemetery.

The body reposed at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home in Owen until 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The former Clara Louis Noah was born April 7, 1889 in the town of Mead (Clark Co.), and was married there on April 28, 1909 to John Wendt, who preceded her in death March 18, 1953.

The couple settled on a farm in Longwood township, now operated by a son, Adolph. She lived there until 1960, when she transferred resident to a nursing home in Neillsville.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ of Greenwood and its women's guild.

She is survived by two sons, Adolph, Owen, and Edgar, Sidney, Mont.; three daughters, Mrs. Adolph (Bertha) Ganders, Danville, Ky.; Mrs. Burnell (Leona) Erickson, Pardeeville, and Mrs. Daniel (Alice) Olson, Greenwood; 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emil Noah, Greenwood and Oscar Noah, Elmhurst, and three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Bertha) Schwarze, Greenwood; Mrs. Alvina Peters, Milwaukee, and Mrs. William (Selma) Holman, Port Washington.

Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased, Dennis Wendt, Duane and Richard Olson and Jerome, Jay and John Erickson.
