Bjerke, Pastor and Mrs. Douglas (50 Years in Ministry - 2015)
By Amber Pischer
Tuesday, April 14, Pastor Douglas and Sharon Bjerke were recognized at the Assemblies of God Wisconsin-Northern Michigan District annual meeting for 50 years of ordained ministry. Pastor Doug has pastured seven churches, beginning his first pastoral experience in Mondovi. After Doug and Sharon were married they moved to Los Angeles where Doug was youth pastor and their two children, Rebecca and Mark, were born.
Next they pastured Assembly of God Churches in Elroy, Boscobel and Eagle River, where their third child, Melissa was born. From Eagle River they moved to Janesville and then to Neillsville. Rev. Bjerke pastured the Assembly of God Church (now named Hillside Community Church) in Neillsville for 18 years until he retired in 2004.
Pastor Joe and Dawn Weiers and congregation commemorated the 50 years of ordained ministry with a dinner reception April 19. Various members shared thoughts and experiences they have had over the past 18 years here in Neillsville.
The Bjerke’s continue to make their home in Neillsville where they are happy to be a part of this fine community. In their own words, ‘We are thankful we have found a home and community where we can be active in volunteer capacities and minister wherever needed.’
Congratulations to Pastor Doug and Sharon!
