News: Thorp – Foremost Acquires New Milk Storage Tank (Jan 1976)

Transcriber: Stan

Surnames: None

----Source: Thorp Courier (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) 22 Jan 1976

A new Milk Storage Tank was installed at the Foremost Blue Moon Dairy building this week. The 60 foot tank has been installed in an upright position. It has a 40,000 gallon capacity, or 344,000 pounds of milk. It was shipped by rail and a large crane from Eau Claire was brought in to lift the tank to its site by some other storage tank.

Foremost has had a continuous growth in blue cheese sales, necessitating increased production. To meet daily production schedules, additional milk storage was needed. The tank will accommodate daily receipts from local producers plus surplus grade A milk which will be purchased when available. Past experience for Foremost indicates that Grade A milk is more readily available on weekend, and this tank will be able to store milk over the weekend.
