Schreiber, August Ferdinand (15 AUG 1941 - 9 MAR 2015)

August Ferdinand Schreiber, age 73, of Ladysmith, WI, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015.

August was born in Ladysmith, on August 15, 1941, to Elmor and Alice Schreiber. He graduated from Tony High School and shortly after began a career in the trucking industry.

He married the love of his life Eileen Bower on July 13, 1963 and they spent over 50 years together living in Owen, WI, until 2013, when they moved permanently to their weekend home located North of Ladysmith.

August enjoyed running his own trucking company for many years before leaving the life on the road to work for the Township of Longwood and then later the Township of Big Falls. Aug's loves in addition to his wife were his daughter, Kathy, his son-in-law, Rick and the sunshine of his life his granddaughter, Morgan. Aug was a highly skilled craftsman and if he couldn't fix it or make it, then there was a good chance no one could.

His favorite times were spent with his beloved dogs, working in his garage or walking through the woods. His life was enriched with a loving family and great friends. His wife Eileen's family embraced Aug as one of their own and since moving to Ladysmith, Aug and his brother, Dan spent countless hours working on projects together. Many summer nights were spent around a bonfire with the good company of neighbors and the "camper group" and he looked forward to his Friday nights out to eat with his friends.

August left this world in an instant on a beautiful spring day, out in his woods. He enjoyed making his own firewood and his precision tree cutting skills remained true to the end of his life, unfortunately a large branch from a neighboring tree fell on him taking his life.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen, daughter, Kathy (Rick) Pliszka, granddaughter, Morgan, and brothers, Dan (Carol), Carl (Kathy) and Alfred. If you knew August, then you understand our mentioning that he will also be dearly missed by his constant companion and dog, Sadie.

August is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of August's life will take place on Saturday, March 14, at Nash-Jackan Funeral Homes located at 120 East Fritz Avenue in Ladysmith, WI 54848. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with a service immediately following at 11 a.m.
