Ohm, Edna (16 MAY 1926 – 24 AUG 2015)

Edna Ohm, 89, Hewitt, formerly of Spencer, died on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Golden Living Center-Three Oaks, Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 25, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7735 Yellowstone Drive, Hewitt. Rev. Dean Pingel will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. on Friday until the time of the service at the church.

Edna was born on May 16, 1926, to Henry Simenson and Anna TerMaat. She lived on the home farm in the town of Hansen, attended Pittsville High School and graduated in 1943. She moved to Marshfield and worked at the Coffee Cup restaurant until her marriage to Rodney Ohm on April 23, 1945. She then worked at the Colonial Inn and Downtowner restaurants on a part-time basis while farming full-time in the town of Marshfield. The family moved to Menomonie when her husband took a job with AO Smith Harvestore. They lived in Menomonie for five years, then returned to Marshfield to resume and expand the farm they had left. During this time, Edna worked at the Holiday Inn as a waitress on a part-time basis. In 1969 she experienced health problems and the farm was sold. Her husband took a job in Marshfield, but after experiencing health problems himself, they purchased Estelles Style Shop in Merrill and she managed it for 12 years. They sold Estelles, moved to Spencer, and opened a similar ladies apparel shop called Edna Maes, which she managed for 18 years. During her lifetime, Edna belonged to the Chamber of Commerce, Womans Club, Church Ladies Aide, Church Ministry and participated as a 4-H leader. She retired in 2000 and moved to Hewitt.

Surviving are her husband, Rodney; four children: Judith Ann (John) Perry, Boynton Beach Fla., Dennis (Kathi) Ohm, Marshfield, Douglas Ohm, Marshfield, and Greg (Debbie) Ohm, Palatine, Ill; five grandchildren: Brian Perry, Washington D.C., Melissa (Sean) Reardon, Bloomington, Minn., Christopher (Bridget) Ohm, Carrollton, Texas, Ryan Ohm, Palatine, Ill., and Sioban (Ben) Allen, Palatine, Ill.; one great-grandchild: Dietrich Ohm, Spencer; and four step great-grandchildren: Kyle and Brenden Reardon, Minneapolis, Minn., Justin Reardon, New York City, and Keegan Kruger, Carrollton, Texas.

She was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Norman; and one sister, Elaine.

Our family would like to thank all staff and Hospice personnel for their kind and loving care given during our Mothers stay.

Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield, is assisting the family with arrangements.
