Bremer, Richard G. (28 FEB 1878 – 14 DEC 1967)

Richard G. Bremer, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 1967, at Mercy Hospital at Janesville. He was taken ill while visiting his granddaughter in Janesville.

Mr. Bremer had made his home the past 25 years with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kalepp, town of Holton (Marathon Co., Wis.).

The body lay in state at the Maurina Funeral Home at Dorchester and funeral services were conducted at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dorchester, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The Rev. F.H. Sprengler conducted the service, and Miss Shirley Sprengler was organist and accompanist for the congregational singing. Mr. Bremer was a member of St. Peter's congregation.

The pallbearers for the interment, made in the town of Holton Cemetery, were John Bremer, Melvin Bremer Jr., Gilbert Westfall, Ben Graffunder, Gene Ridderbusch and Tom Reynolds.

Richard Bremer was born in Germany Feb. 28, 1878. Later he came to the United States and settled in Abbotsford, where he was employed by Soo Line.

He was married to Hilda Parkhill, who preceded him in death Feb. 18, 1925.

He is survived by a son, Melvin Bremer of Batavia, Ill., two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Margaret) Kalepp of rural Dorchester, and Mrs. Evelyn Mathews of Bloomington, Ill. He also has 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Skervin of Wis. Rapids.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
