Darling, Minnie (27 March 1887 - 26 March 1974)

Mrs. Asa (Minnie) Darling of Neillsville died March 26 at the age of 86; the following day would have marked her 87th birthday. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman Lindloff officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

Born on March 27, 1887, at Jefferson to Fred and Louise (Hoferman) Lavandowsky, Mrs. Darling came to the Town of Weston with her parents and was educated in schools there. As a young lady she worked in Rockford, Il., where she was married to Fred Schlinsog in 1909. The couple farmed in the Town of York.

After Mr. Schlinsog’s death in 1951 she returned to Rockford, and then moved to Neillsville in 1954. Her marriage to Asa Darling took place May 4, 1963, in Neillsville. Mrs. Darling was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Victor (Ruth) Turner of Wisconsin Rapids and Mrs. John (Sadie) Bunk of Kendall; one brother, Helmuth Lavandowsky of Titusville, Fl.; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Garie Turner, James Turner, Roger Turner, Dale Armitage, Jack Ratsch and Harold Schlinsog. The children of St. John’s Lutheran school sang “Rock of Ages” and Abide with me.” Victor Lehmann was the accompanist.

Miller, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Parsons, Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Turner and family, Minneapolis, Mn; Garie Turner, Beaver Dam’ James Turner, Dearborn, Mi.; Susan Ray Murphy, Loyal; and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ratsch, Greenwood.
