Pernsteiner, Lucille Doris (16 August 1924 - 20 October 2015)

Lucille Pernsteiner, 91, of Granton died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at the Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield.

Lucille Doris Lewer was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Verona, WI, the daughter of Robert and Marie (Raemisch) Lewer. Her family moved to Medford in 1935, and she graduated from Medford High School in 1942. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph ‘Joe’ Pernsteiner Jr. Oct. 10 1942, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. They were married for 63 years. They farmed in the Medford area for 10 years before moving to a farm in the Granton area in March of 1952. In 1968, they moved off the farm to a house that Joe built.

Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker, worked on the farm and with Joe’s Carpentry & Masonry projects. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church in Chili for 30 years. During that time, she was a member of St. Stephen’s Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW), serving as president for two years. After St. Stephen’s closure, they joined St. Anthony’s Parish in Loyal.

She is survived by four children: Joseph III (Franceen) Pernsteiner of Black River Falls, Maryann Wheeler of Marshfield, Janice (Wayne) Kuhl of Granton and Janet (Franklin) Boh of Neillsville. Lucille is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Karen Pernsteiner of Marshfield; 16 grandchildren: Sue (Phillip) Backaus, Shelly Payne, JoDee (Ben) Leisso, Christopher (Ronda) Pernsteiner, Kay (Bob) Koshalek, Brenda (Matt) Triden, Jean Pernsteiner, Jolene (Chris) Kolstad, Dominic (Candace) Pernsteiner, Pamela (Paul) Fisher, Mary Jo (Randy) Wheeler-Schueller, Daniel Wheeler, Julie (Troy) Tiedens, Erica (Eric) Lawton and Cindy (David) Seif; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Dorvon (Marylou) Lewer of Kansas City, MO; a sister-in-law, Clare Pernsteiner of Loyal; a brother-in-law, Chet Pernsteiner of Loyal; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph ‘Joe’ July 9, 2006; a son, Thomas Pernsteiner; a daughter-in-law, Betty Pernsteiner; a son-in-law, Dan Wheeler; two grandchildren, Chad and Rebecca Pernsteiner; and a brother, Robert ‘Bob’ Lewer; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Chili at a later date.

A special thank you to the staff of Stoney River Assisted Living for the wonderful four and one-half years of care you gave Mom and to the Three Oaks staff for the special care in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
