Hilliard, Edna (Halmstad) Moore (19 JAN 1922 - 21 OCT 2015)

Edna Hilliard, 93, Catawba, died in the Ladysmith Care Community in Ladysmith on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

She was born on January 19, 1922, in Catawba, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anton and Celia (Madson) Halmstad. She was a 1940 graduate of the Tony High School.

She was married to Gerald Moore in Catawba on June 29, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1975. She was married to Clyde “Curley” Hilliard on November 3, 1976, in Glen Flora, and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1989.

She operated the Long Branch Bar and Grill in Catawba for many years. She was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Catawba, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 6177 Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her friends, caring for her cats, and watching TV.

She is survived by one daughter, Virginia (Thomas) Strobl, Kennan; and by two step children, Judy (Robert) Fockler, Massillon, Ohio, and Davey “Corky” Hilliard, Massillon, Ohio; by 8 step grandchildren and by great grandchildren. She is survived by two sister-in-laws, Bernice Halmstad, Catawba, and Lucille Halmstad, Rib Lake; and by nieces and nephews, with special mention of Gary Halmstad, Janet Prohaska, Lois Good, and Ken Halmstad.

She is preceded in death by her husband’s; by three sisters, Evelyn Halmstad, Helen James, Alice Shaver; and by two brothers, Oliver Halmstad and Maurice Halmstad.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba with Pastor Glenn Sokolowski officiating. Inurnment will be in the Catawba Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services.
