Alger, Allen Dennis (23 April 1948 - 10 December 2015)

Allen D. Alger, age 67, of Thorp, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp, WI, with Pastor Randy VanDeLoo officiating. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home, on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Allen Dennis Alger was born on April 23, 1948, in Stanley, WI, the son of Gilbert “Gibby” and Wilma “Billie” (Bradle) Alger. He was raised and received his education in the Thorp area, graduating from Thorp High School in 1966. After high school, Allen worked at Presto Industries in Eau Claire and Lato Pole Buildings in Thorp. He was united in marriage to Joyce Briski on June 30, 1972, at The Little Brown Church in the Vale, in Nashua, Iowa. He then went to work for North Hendren Cheese, in Willard, as a cheese maker. Allen later worked for LaGrander’s Hillside Dairy, in Stanley, and then returned to North Hendren Cheese, where he hauled milk until retiring in March of 2015.

He had many interests, but especially loved playing golf and bowling.

Allen will be dearly missed by his wife, Joyce, of Thorp; two sons: Jacob A. Alger of Marshfield, Dennis G. Alger (special friend Amber Larson and her son, Brayden) of Cadott; one granddaughter, Mallory Alger of Stanley; one brother, Larry Alger of Eau Claire; one nephew, Todd Alger of Eau Claire; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law: Linda Alger and Anne Briski; one brother-in-law, Patrick Briski; and one nephew, Jay Alger.
