Hintz, George Henry (22 OCT 1886 – 13 NOV 1957)

George Henry Hintz, son of John and Augusta (Cottean Hintz, was born at Lena, Ill. on Oct. 22, 1886.

On Sept. 22, 1904 he was united in marriage with Mary Clair at Kent, Ill. In 1909 they moved to a farm one-half mile west of Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), where they resided until their retirement in 1956, when they moved to Greenwood (Clark Co.).

Mr. Hintz was a member of the West Side Evangelical and Reformed Church, was chairman of the town of Hendren for a number of years, and also served on the school board.

Mr. Hintz was taken ill while he and Mrs. Hintz were visiting at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kippenhan, Appleton. He was taken to a hospital there, where he passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1957 from pneumonia and complications.

The body was brought to the Hill Funeral Home at Greenwood.

Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 16th at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Charles Koch, pastor of the West Side Church, officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

During the service Joyce Albert, Carol Liebzeit, Myrna Meinholdt, Lois Kuester and Carol Wendt sang "Nearer Still Nearer" and "Beyond the Sunset, " accompanied by Mrs. Alvin Albert at the organ.

The pallbearers were Theodore Humke, Norbert Kuester, Mike Pakiz, Anton Trunkel, Mike Krultz Sr. and John Zupancic.

Mr. Hintz is survived by his wife, five sons and three daughters, Paul and Roland of Willard; Ralph and Boyd of Milwaukee; George Jr., with the U.S. Army in England; Mrs. Arthur (Katherine) Fravert, Loyal; Mrs. Orlin (Bernice) Schwarze, Greenwood; Mrs. Herbert (Helen) Kippenhan, Appleton; one brother, Frank of Lena, Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lina, Mrs. Tillie Van Sickle, Mrs. Ida Uhe, Mrs. Mary Otte and Mrs. Alma Schemerhorn, all of northern Illinois; and 22 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Mary Alice) Trost, who died in 1956.

Hendrickson, Aurora, Ill.; Mrs. Glenn Borchan, Lyndon Station; Mr. and Mrs. Galen Clair, Pearl City, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Don Obazarny, Wayne and Jeanette Putz, Chicago; Albert Trost Jr., U.S. Army; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fravert and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schweiger, Loyal; Paul and Roland Hintz, Albert Trost Sr. and family, Arnold Clair, Willard; Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Schwarze, Greenwood, and many friends from the Willard and Greenwood area.

M. Sgt. George E. Hintz Jr. of the U.S. Army in England was unable to attend.
