Humbird (23 May 1974)

Mrs. Mary Raymond of St. Cloud, Mn, spent from Friday until Monday at the home of Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot and also visited at the Levi Fitzmaurice home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse came Saturday and, with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe drove to Green Bay to spend a long weekend at the Kurt Schlei home.

Mrs. Mary Reider of Rockford, Il., was called here last week by the illness of her brother, John Greub, who is a patient in Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.

Miss Lorraine Burg of Sturgeon Bay, a student at the University at Eau Claire, stopped Saturday on her way home to make a short visit with her cousin, Mrs. Millie Trachsel.

Ralph Finnegan of Burlington came Thursday to spend until Saturday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Arnold Matti. While here he visited at the Claire Everson home in Alma Center.

Mrs. Earl Pierce of Neillsville and daughter Mrs. Lorraine Stanley of rural Granton called Saturday at the Arnold Matti home. They were on their way home after attending the funeral of a cousin in Fairchild.

Mrs. Elgie Hardwick is a patient in Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. She is improving slowly. Her daughter, Mrs. Winnie Tesmer, was here Saturday to look after her home and called at the Arnold Matti home.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Duerkop and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bobb of Eau Claire, and Miss Connie Priutz of Owen, were dinner guests recently of their mother, Mrs. Iola Priutz, and their brother, Alan. Mr. and Mrs. Duerkop and Mr. and Mrs. Bobb also visited with Mrs. Dorothy Bobb.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Sieg called Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Raith.

Mesdames, Ann Scheffer, Nelda Prindle, Beatrice Lang and Millie Trachsel attended the art and craft show in Black River Falls, Wednesday. There were 75 crafts and a large number of paintings on display.

Mrs. Maude Newton was a dinner guest Sunday at the Thane Joos home in rural Alma Center Sunday. All drove to Blair in the afternoon to call at the Herman Zastrow home.

Mrs. Ray Duxbury of Merrillan spent Sunday afternoon at the Levi Fitzmaurice home, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Shara of Wisconsin Rapids were luncheon guests.

Claire Everson of Alma Center was a dinner guest Saturday at the Arnold Matti home.

Mr. and Mrs. Hillard Anderson of Black River Falls visited Sunday night at the Lyle Newell home.

Candy Burnett of rural Hixton spent the weekend with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Sieg had as a dinner guests Sunday Mrs. Laura Dignin; and in the afternoon Mrs. Beatrice Stuve came to visit.

Thursday evening visitors at the Perle Pickett home were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rupnow.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Fred Theiler of Cataract to Appleton Satruday to spend until late Sunday at the Willis Johnson home. Sunday, they, with other members of the family, attended the confirmation of the Johnsons’ youngest daughter, Kathy.

Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips are looking for a visit from their son, John, Jr. and his wife and children, who have arrived from Germany and now are in New Jersey.

Mrs. Johanna Olson was a dinner guests Sunday at the Allen Zimmerman home in Fairchild, and Mrs. Edwin Abrahamson a guest in the afternoon.

Mrs. Mary Raymond and Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot were dinner and afternoon guests at the Levi Fitzmaurice home Sunday.

Mrs. Edith Smith spent a long weekend at the home of her son, Bob Smith, in Deerfield.

Callers during the week at the Levi Fitzmaurice home were Mr. and Mrs. Val Manthei of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Phillips of Janesville, Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bemis, Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rupnow were surprised to have her youngest sister and husband come from Marshfield Saturday for dinner and the afternoon.
