Opdyke, Floyd L. (6 January 1913 - 5 June 1974)

Floyd L. Opdyke, 61, Greenwood, died at his home Wednesday afternoon from an apparent heart attack. The son of Noel and Maud (Cast) Opdyke, he was born January 6, 1913, in Barnum, Grant County. He was married November 23, 1929, in Mayville to Laura Schiller, who survives.

After their marriage they lived in Barton and he was employed by A. O. Smith Company in Milwaukee. They moved to North Lake in 1945, where he operated an electric shop for two years.

They moved to Greenwood in 1947, where they farmed until 1961, when they moved to the City of Greenwood. He was then employed by Weyerhauser Molded Products in Marshfield for 12 years.

Surviving besides his wife are four daughters: Mrs. Lyle (Bonnie) Hardrath of Marshfield, Mrs. Herman (Gloria) Hoffman of Colby, Mrs. Duane (Judy) Branstitter of Rhinelander, and Mrs. Edwin (Betty) Degenhardt of Greenwood; a son Floyd, of Marshfield; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
