Kerner, Robert Louis (13 JAN 1942 - 15 FEB 2016)

Robert Louis Kerner, 74, Ogema, died in the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls on Monday, February 15.

He was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on January 13, 1942, the son of Andrew and Alice (Jirek) Kerner. His family moved to Phillips when he was 4 years old. He attended the Phillips High School.

In his working career he was a farmer, a logger, truck driver, and then a mill worker at the Larson Pallet Factory in Ogema.

He was married to Rose Marie Fischer on February 9, 1963, and they later divorced after having eight children together.

He was married to Gail Stade in Phillips on February 14, 1996. In his free time he enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, visiting with friends, hunting, caring for his lawn, enjoying the outdoors, and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; by seven children, Roberta (Derrick) Hall, Princeton, NC, Tim (Karen),Colfax, WI, Jim (Mary O’Malley), Great Falls, MT, Michael (Jennifer), Sheridan, IL, John (June), Antigo, Anita (Jerry) Gavin, Ladysmith, and Peter, Antigo; by 12 grandchildren; by four great grandchildren; by three brothers, Tony (Sally) Hayward, Eugene (Deb), Rib Lake, Larry (Kent), Elgin, Il; by one sister, Sharon Wheeler, Darien, WI; and by three sister-in-laws, Marianne Kerner, Phillips, and Karen Kerner, Radisson, WI, and Marlene Johnson, Ogema; and by three brother-in-laws, Wayne (Joanne Skomaroske) Stade, Phillips, Kevin (Debbie) Stade, Battle View, ND, and John (Patty) Stade, Catawba.

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Christine, by one sister, Leilani; by one brother, Frank; and by one brother-in-law, Burt Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 20, at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral Home after 4:00 P.M. on Friday, February 19, and on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
