Ed. Gehrt was home over Sunday from Milwaukee.

J.D. Dwyer was here from Alma Center on Monday.

Miss Leona Albright is home from New London for the holidays.

Miss Mae McNamara is home from Spencer for the holidays.

Harold Carl Roehl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Roehl on Saturday.

James Farning came home from Great Lakes to spend a Christmas furlough.

Donald Irvine, Ervin Kurth and Paul Holtz were at Marshfield on Monday.

Mrs. Oscar Schoengarth was at Marshfield Monday to see her father, Carl Dodte.

Alonzo Frank returned home last week from the S.A.T.C. at Stevens Point Normal.

Miss Flossie Leason is home from Downer College at Milwaukee for the holidays.

Mrs. Robt. Brauer is here from Oshkosh for a brief visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brauer.

Glynn Stoffel came home Monday morning, having received his discharge from the Navy.

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Marsh of Marshfield spent a few days here last week with Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Marsh.

Mrs. Rena Nelson and two children and Miss Edith Lund of Black River Falls will spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. P.N. Nelson.

Lieut. Donald Crothers of the Aviation Service came home on Monday to spend a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Crothers.

Ross McCalvy and Wm. Meyers went to Marshfield Monday morning and brought Mrs. Joe Bass home from the hospital. She is getting along quite nicely now.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hohenstein of Neillsville has been visiting her son, Fred, and family south of town. She returned home Monday.

H.F. Dresden and wife of Green Bay spent Friday here with Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Dresden, being on their way home from Haynes, N.D., where they were called home by the illness of a son.

Joe Ehler and Will Wiltgen of Ossian, Iowa, came up with H.J. Heiman, and helped him get settled on the Hm. Dahl farm. The two gentlemen are much pleased with Clark County and expect to locate here in the near future.

William Maxwell died at his home in Minneapolis on Sunday. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell who lived in Merrillan a few years ago, Mr. Maxwell being the conductor on the branch passenger train. Mr. Maxwell, Jr., had been married but a short time.

H.J. Heiman of Ossian, Iowa, came last week to take possession of the Hm. Dahl farm in Levis, which he recently purchased. Mr. Dahl left last week for his new home in New York state where he bought a farm. Mrs. Dahl and children will join him there in a short time. They leave this neighborhood with the best wishes of all their friends for their future prosperity.

Herbert Garbusch and Bernard Haas came home Friday from Camp Nichols, Louisiana, having been discharged from the Army. Art Russell was also discharged from the Army and after a few days’ visit at his home in Minneapolis came here Friday night and resumed his work in the Big Store Shoe Department.

F.X. Schilling of the town of Castle, Marathon County, who was arrested on indictments returned by the Grand Jury, charged with violations of the Espionage Act, was found guilty and sentenced to pay a fine of $3,500 and to serve a term of eighteen months in the federal prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to which place he was taken last Thursday.

Fred Reitz is in receipt of a letter from his nephew, Fred Reitz, stating that he was wounded in battle in France on the 1st of November, when a machine gun bullet passed through the calf of his leg. The letter was written on the 16th and he said he was then getting along all right. He was with General Pershing in the now famous drive, and had reached the fifth charge before getting a scratch. – Black River Falls Banner

On Saturday the name of Corporal Geo. Wilson of Neillsville appeared in the casualty list as wounded, and on Wednesday the name of Sergt. Matt Miller of Neillsville appeared as severely wounded. Thursday’s list contained the name of Werner C. Meihack as wounded and Friday’s that of Ernest Karnetz of Pine Valley as severely wounded, and Norman V. Larson as slightly wounded. Nels Gullickson was reported as missing in action.

Leo Schroeder returned to Reedsburg Monday.

Emil Stelter is home from Beloit for a brief visit.

Miss Helen Klinke of Greenwood is visiting relatives here.

Fred Finder went to Lake Mills on Monday for a short visit.

Miss Hilda Kurth visited friends at Marshfield over Sunday.

Ollie Haas left Monday for a visit with relatives at Jefferson.

Joseph Horak of Neillsville was here Monday between trains.

Fred Heibel was here from Mondovi on business over Sunday.

Judge O’Neill went to Black River Falls on Monday on court matters.

Mrs. J.A. Hauser left Monday for a visit with relatives at Waunakee.

Mrs. M. Kappellan is home from a few weeks’ visit in Milwaukee and Chicago.

Lieut. M.C. Rodolf is here from Minneapolis to spend the holidays with his wife.

Mrs. Andrew Braun went to Minneapolis Monday to spend Christmas with her daughter.

Rev. Stucki was here from Black River Falls over Sunday visiting with Rev. and Mrs. Grethier.

Mrs. J.C. Ford returned home to Minneapolis Thursday after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Paulson.

Mrs. Rush of Rochester and Miss Rush of Medford are here to spend the holidays with W.J. Rush and family.

Mrs. Rand and Mrs. Ernest Dixon came to Granton Monday to spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Devos.

Mrs. Sweetland of Belvidere, Ill., is here to spend Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wildish.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller and Mrs. Vigo Lorentzen of Withee spent Thursday here with Mr. and Mrs. Ole C. Andersen.

Mrs. Robert Thompson of Army City, Kansas, came Monday to spend the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Glass.

Mrs. Walter Belfus of Withee came Saturday to spend a few days here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dodte.

Tom Donahue was quite badly cut and bruised Monday by being thrown from his buggy when his horse ran away from him.

Miss Marjorie Jacques is home from Milwaukee for the holidays. She was accompanied by Miss Drusilla Matthews, whose home is in Palestine, Texas, and who has been with Miss Jacques at Milwaukee for several weeks.
