Mahoney, Susan Marie (Marriage - 25 May 1974)

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Mahoney of Chili, presented Miss Susan Marie Mahoney in marriage to Steven Varney on Saturday, May 25, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Varney, Marshfield.

The Rev. Robert Houston officiated at the afternoon ceremony. Afterwards, the newlyweds greeted guests at a wedding supper at Shorty’s steak house. A dance at the Chili Corner Club followed the meal.

A matching headpiece and veil framed the bride’s gown of ivory Nottingham lace over satin. White daisies, gardenias, stephanotis and baby’s breath formed her bouquet.

Debra Gerke was the maid of honor and Jan Sauter and Barb Mahoney were bridesmaids. Their dotted Swiss gowns in shades of yellow, green and purple, respectively, were complimented by matching broad-brimmed hats. Hand bouquets of yellow, purple and white daisies with baby’s breath completed their ensembles.

Mike Schlagenhaft served as bestman and Stan Kroening and Mike Varney, as groomsmen.

Guests were seated by Miss Nancy Mahoney.

Mrs. Francis Steiner was the organist.

The bride was honored at a prenuptial shower given by the bridesmaids at the home of her sister, Mrs. Richard Bell.

A graduate of Marshfield Senior High School, the new Mrs. Varney is employed in Marshfield. Her husband is a graduate of Columbus High School, Marshfield.
