Webb, George L. (28 OCT 1916 - 26 NOV 2010)

George L. Webb, age 97, of Medford, passed away on Friday, November 26 at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford, where he had resided for the past 2 months most recently under the care of Hope Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 30, at First Baptist Church, Medford, with Rev. Brian Wipf, officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.

Pallbearers will be Scott Webb, Todd Perrin, David Rause, Cory Laher, Dan Wyrobeck, Jack Griffin.

Visitation will be at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 4:00 PM until the time of a Masonic Service held at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 29 and also at church from 10 AM until time of services at 10:30 AM on Tuesday at church.

George was born on November 8, 1913 at Kempton, Indiana, to Emmons and A. Beatrice (Lybrook) Webb.

He was educated in the Indiana school system and graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Electrical Engineering along with one-year postgraduate study in Metallurgy

72 years of his married life together was with Frances Chambers, and she survives.

George’s engineering interest was in the design of electrical products for automobiles. He had 15 U.S. patents. His designs were put into production by the Essex Wire Corp. to supply Ford and Chrysler automobiles. In Indiana, George supported the Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was a deacon. They have resided in Medford since 1994. His hobbies included fishing, golf, ham radio, stamp collecting, and miniature railroads.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Medford; Medford Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and Order of the Eastern Stars.

George is survived by his wife, Frances Webb of Medford, children, Paul (Lynn) Webb of Medford, grandchildren, Scott (Gwen) and Amanda Webb both of Medford.

He is predeceased by his parents, Emmons and A. Beatrice (Lybrook) Webb.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the First Baptist Church, Medford.
