Zielinski, Lester “Les” R. (26 APR 1929 - 15 NOV 2011)

Lester “Les” R. Zielinski, age 82, of 305 W. Apollo Avenue Dorchester, passed away on Tuesday, November 15 at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford where he had resided for the past week.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 19 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, where full military honors will be performed by the Medford Military Honors Team. Deacon Joseph Stefancin will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers are Jasmine Myer, Dylan Brusky, Robin Coppock and Jonathan Wiegl.  Active pallbearers are Ken, Mike, and Brandon Zielinski, Dustin Bartelt, Steven Reynolds and Tyler Brandl. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 19 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.

Les was born on April 26, 1929 at Stevens Point, WI, to Robert and Helen (Wleklinski) Zielinski. He attended Chicago Area Schools.

On April 11, 1959, he married was married to Viola G. Smith, in Ogema. She survives.

Lester served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Supply Sergeant from 1951 to 1959. After his time in the service he returned to the Town of Molitor where he farmed with his family until he and Viola moved to Racine where he worked as a machinist at American Motors for a couple of years. They then moved back to the Medford Area where he worked for the conservation department. In 1965 they then moved to Washington and in 1971 returned back to the Medford area where he worked as a machinist until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Packers, the Brewers, NASCAR and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Viola G. Zielinski, of Dorchester; children Ken (Diane) Zielinski of Plover, Tammie Zielinski of Medford, Jeanine (Chip) Bartelt of Medford, Michael (Mary Jo) Zielinski of Stevens Point, Galen (Melanie) Zielinski of Rib Lake, Darla Johnson of Rib Lake and Leslie Zielinski of Medford; 21 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Elin Sanders of Withee.

Les is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Helen (Wleklinski) Zielinski; siblings, Lorraine Tomczak and Robert Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, memorial’s can be made to Lester’s family to be designated at a later date
