Stewart, Helen Jeanette (18 JUN 1960)

Grace Methodist Church was the setting for the wedding of Miss Helen Jeanette Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart, and Gary E. Rohde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Rohde, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.). Rev. Ethel B. Nulton and Rev. Gene Carlson officiated at the 7:30 candle light ceremony Saturday evening, June 18th, 1960. Robert Stewart, brother of the bride, Stanley, Wis., provided the organ and piano music, and Mrs. Donald Ellingson, Marshfield, sang "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer."

Miss Stewart was given in marriage by her father before the altar which was decorated with baskets of spring flowers. The bride wore a floor length gown of embroidered French tulle, featuring a fitted bodice and Sabrina neckline. The bouffant embroidered skirt opened to several rows of ruffles which comprise the design of the underskirt. A veil of silk illusion fell from a miniature crown of pearls, crystals and rhinestones. An orchid surrounded the pink tea roses and stephanotis comprised the bridal bouquet. Identical gowns of pink organza over matching taffeta with pink and white lace bodices fashioned the dresses worn by the bridal aides. Mrs. Donald Decker, Greenwood, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Caryl Ann Robbins, Excelsior, Minn., and Miss Joanne Jackson, Greenwood, were bridesmaids. They carried pink and white heart-shaped bouquets of carnations accented with sweetheart roses.

LeAnn Rohde, sister of the groom, and Gary Jepsen, nephew of the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer. The little flower girl wore a white floor length gown fashioned like the bride's

Richard Rohde of Greenwood, brother of the groom, served as best man, and S-Sgt. Duane Stewart, Laurel, Md., and James Turnquist, Greenwood, were groomsmen. John Nibbe, Abbotsford, and Glenn Stewart and Donald Decker served as ushers.

The groom's mother wore a beige lace dress with white accessories. The bride's mother wore a blue lace dress with white accessories. Each wore a corsage of pink sweetheart roses.

Mr. and Mrs. Rohde are graduates of Greenwood High School. He graduated from Wisconsin State College, River Falls; and she graduated from Taylor County Teacher's College, Medford. She will teach school at Madison in the fall, and he will attend the University of Wisconsin to study for his Master's degree. Their honeymoon trip took them through northern Wisconsin, Michigan, and into Canada.

Guests from out of town who attended the wedding were from: Laurel, Maryland; Excelsior, Minn.; Rothschild, Wittenberg, Marshfield, Unity, Loyal, Appleton, Portage, Wautoma, Plainfield, Brookfield, Milwaukee, Stanley, Abbotsford, Amery, Shawano, Wis.; and Devils Lake, N.D.
