Holverson, Ronald T. (30 March 1931 - 14 April 2016) With Flag

Ronald T. Holverson, age 85, of Stanley, died, Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born on March 30, 1931. Ron grew up in the Neillsville area and graduated from Neillsville High in 1949. He entered the military and served in the Fleet Marines during the Korean Conflict. Ron continued his naval career as a sub-mariner until he retired from the navy in 1969.

On April 17, 1952, he married Shirley Marg at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Neillsville. The couple lived on the east coast for five years after Ron’s military career and moved to Stanley in 1974. Ron worked for Corner Motors in Cadott for a time and became a claims representative for Milwaukee Insurance Company. Then in “retirement” Ron worked many years at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Cadott.

Ron is a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, Stanley Lions Club and an active volunteer for the Stanley Food Pantry.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley of Stanley; two daughters: Vicki DeVan of Boise, ID and Pam (Don) Danielewicz of Thorp; two grandchildren, Zachory DeVan and Lauren (Mike) Whitehead; and one great-granddaughter, Mila Whitehead.

Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Rosalie Boulieu; and two grandchildren: Nicole Marie Danielewicz and Kelly Ray DeVan.

A funeral service will be at noon on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Our Savior’s Lutheran church, Stanley, with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating. Inurnment will take place later in Evergreen Cemetery, Stanley. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the church. Plombon Funeral Service, Stanley, assisted the family with arrangements.
