Foster, Anita (12 FEB 1919 – 1 MAR 1968)

Funeral services for Mrs. James Foster, 49, who died unexpectedly at 3:45 a.m. Friday, March 1, 1968, at her home at Hatfield, were held Monday morning at Colby.

The body lay in state at the Langlois-Galston Funeral Home in Black River Falls, where a rosary service was held Saturday evening. On Sunday it was brought to Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, where a rosary service was said Sunday evening.

The mass of requiem was sung Monday morning at 10:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with interment following in St. Mary's Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Larry Albert, Larry Bradley, Dan Goettl, Art Rosenberg, Ernest Rudolph and Dean Will.

There were six honorary pallbearers, all boys from Black River Boys Camp, where Mr. Foster is employed.

The former Anita Daellenbach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daellenbach, was born February 12, 1919, at Abbotsford. She received her grade school education at the Pleasant Hill School in the town of Mayville (Clark Co., Wis.), and is a graduate of Abbotsford High School.

Her marriage to James Foster took place on September 20, 1940, in Chicago, where they lived for nine months, when Mr. Foster was drafted into service. Mrs. Foster then stayed with her parents in Abbotsford while Mr. Foster was serving in the European theatre.

After his return in 1945, they lived in Abbotsford until 1946. They bought a farm in the town of Hull and operated this until 1957, when they moved to the city of Colby, where Mr. Foster was custodian at St. Mary's Church and school until 1960.

Due to ill health he accepted a position at the Waukesha School for Boys. In 1962 he was transferred to the new Boy's Camp at Black River Falls, where they made their home at Hatfield.

Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Judy) Gierl of rural Colby, and Miss Sharon Ann Foster of St. Paul. There are four grandchildren. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Martha Daellenbach of Winnetka, Ill., and four sisters, Mrs. Leona Carlin of Winnetka, Mrs. Vincent (Luella) Struglinski of Chicago, Mrs. Nicholas (Lorraine) Schmidt of Des Plaines, Ill., and Mrs. Margaret Papenfuss of Brookfield.

Her father died in 1965, and a brother, Arnold, preceded her in death in 1956.

Relatives and friends attending the funeral came from Washington, D.C,; St. Paul, Duluth and Winona, Minn., Ishpeming, Mich., Chicago, Green Bay, Burlington, Brookfield, Merrillan, Wausau, Marshfield, Neillsville, Chippewa Falls, Stratford, Dorchester, Abbotsford and Colby vicinity.
