Gengler, Thomas “Tom” W. Sr. (3 NOV 1952 - 1 JUL 2016)

Thomas “Tom” W. Gengler, Sr., age 63, of W9270 County Road M, Medford, A Township of Molitor resident, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Devil’s Lake, ND while on a fishing vacation.

The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 6, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Fr. Phil Juza and Deacon Joe Stefancin, officiating.

Visitation will be at 4-8 PM Tuesday July 5 and 9-10:30AM Wednesday, July 6 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford where there will also be at 8:00 PM Catholic prayer service held that evening.

Pallbearers are Thomas Gengler, Jr., Justin Meyer, Ryan Fuchs and Shawn Konieczny.

Tom was born on November 3, 1952, in Medford, to Matthew Peter and Lorraine Gengler, Sr.

He received his education at Pine Tree Elementary School, in the Town of Molitor, and was a 1970 graduate of Medford High School, and attended Medford Branch Campus.

Tom was married on May 31, 1975, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey to Patty Jane Dassow. She survives.

After his education, he worked at Bootzin’s Feed Mill, Dorchester Lumber, Wisconsin Equipment, Conseco, Michael’s Construction, and Weather Shield for periods of time. From 1977-2009 he was employed in the loading docks at Tombstone Pizza and later Kraft until his retirement. After retirement he owned and operated Bottom Feeder Tackle, a bait and tackle company. Tom was also the Town chairman for the Town of Molitor for 28 years. He was a volunteer hockey coach for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, camping, his grandchildren, and spending time with his family and friends

Tom attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. He was a member of the Taylor County Sportsman’s Club and many other area sportsman’s clubs.

He is survived by his wife Patty J. Gengler of Medford; parents, mother Lorraine Gengler of Medford; mother-in-law Katherine “Kate” Dassow of Medford; children Jen (Justin) Meyer of Medford, Katie (Ryan) Fuchs of Stetsonville, Sara (Shawn) Konieczny of Medford, and Thomas William Gengler Jr. of Medford; grandchildren Shawna, Bryant and Victoria Konieczny, Meghan and Mason Meyer, Delaney Searer, Corbyn , Porter and Gunnar Fuchs.

Tom is also survived by siblings Sally (Ron) Banks of Dorchester, Peggy (Dale) Obernberger of Stratford, Vicky Gengler of Eau Claire, Terry (Cindy) Gengler of Chippewa Falls, Matt Jr. (Sue) Gengler of Medford.

He is predeceased by his father, Matthew Peter Gengler, Sr. in 2004; Father-In-Law: Lawrence Dassow in 1998; infant brother Gerald in 1944.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the family for a future designation.
