Luther, Mr./Mrs. Emil (Gold – 12 APR 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Luther of Heafford Junction, former residents of the Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) area, observed their golden wedding anniversary, which was April 12, 1064, on the weekend of April 11-12 with a family dinner at Pleasant Point Resort in that area on Saturday and an open house at their home on Sunday.

Mr. Luther, who was a cheesemaker in Clark County for 25 years, and the former Blanche Cornwell were married April 12, 1914, in the Lutheran parsonage at Loyal by the Rev. E. Kemena.

Their attendants at the 1914 ceremony, Ethel Free and Otto Luther, the latter of Marshfield, attended the anniversary celebration.

Prior to moving to the Tomahawk area in 1950, the Luthers resided in Greenwood.

They have four sons, Gerald of Heafford Junction, Lester of Eau Claire, Douglas of Junction City, and Kenneth, Wausau. All were present for the golden wedding. The couple also have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Luther is a retired carpenter. He and his wife list gardening and home crafts among their special interests.

A three-tiered wedding cake, adorned with gold candles, was served at the celebration. Mrs. Luther wore a black and white print dress, accented with an orchid corsage. Mr. Luther had a yellow carnation boutonniere.

At the open house , coffee and cake were served to guests by members of the Order of Eastern Star. The guests from out of town came from Palm Springs, Calif., Ashippun, Wis. Rapids, Marshfield, Eagle River, Eau Claire, Junction City, Loyal, Spencer, Unite, Wausau and Irma.
