Murkowski, Ervin E. (21 AUG 1931 - 15 AUG 2016)

Ervin E. Murkowski, 84, of Wausau, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born in Athens on August 21, 1931 to Harry and Balbina (Felzkowski) Murkowski. Ervin grew up on the family farm near Athens and attended the country school nearby.

He later married Shirley Eggebrecht at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau, in 1968.

Growing up on the farm Ervin had a work ethic and drive that eventually lead him to retire three times from different careers at Wausau Homes, Marathon Box, and Wausau Box. He enjoyed being outside working in the garden and caring for his many vegetables and flowers, or camping. He also spent time cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Ervin was a member of Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, Rib Mountain.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; children, Sherry Krueger of Clintonville, WI, Monica Murkowski, and Vaneta (Jared) Maahs, all of Wausau; grandchildren, Jennifer, Luke, Steven, Savanna, Reba, and Tyler; and brother, Clem Murkowski of Athens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Balbina.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, 3200 North Mountain Road, Rib Mountain, with Rev. Craig Swenson officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
