Clifton, Floyd (12 APR 1905 – 28 AUG 1966)

Funeral services were held here Tuesday afternoon for Floyd Clifton, 61, of Madison. Rev. Robert Goessling of the United Church of Christ officiated at the final rites conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, with burial being made in the family lot at Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).

Pallbearers were Charles Davis, Francis Kafka, Frances Swiggum, Emil Hansen, Adolph Haavisto and Clarence Kitze.

The deceased passed away Sunday at a hospital in Madison after an illness of several weeks and suffering a heart attack.

Floyd Eldridge Clifton was born April 12, 1905 at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) and after he moved with his to Owen, where he graduated from high school in 1923. He was employed as a carpenter and then became a baker and operated bakeries at various times in Owen, Cornell, Neillsville and Madison, where he had made his home for the past 15 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Navy Seabees for two and one-half years.

In 1925 he was united in marriage to the former Elda Vachon, and divorced in 1925.

He is survived by four sons, Floyd, Kenneth and Donald of Madison; and Jerry of McHenry, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Beverly) Davis and Mrs. Francis (Donna0 Swiggum, Madison, and Mrs. Francis Kyrraka, Milwaukee; a brother, Kenneth, of Stratford, and 32 grandchildren.
