Hamann, Wallace J. (5 JAN 1931 - 24 SEP 2016)

Wallace J. Hamann, age 85, of rural Colby, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Golden Living Center at Continental Manor in Abbotsford.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Saint John High Steeple Church in the town of Wien, Marathon County. The Reverend Jeffrey A. Lambrecht will officate.

Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 am until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Inurnment will be held in the church cemetery. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Wallace was born on January 5, 1931 the son of Martin and Erna (Buttke) Hamann in the Town of Frankfort, Marathon County. He attended Hillcrest country school and graduated from Colby High School. Wally worked at Weyerhauser in Marshfield for 41 years, where he received numerous awards for service. He was a lifelong member of Saint John “High Steeple” church in the town of Wien.

Wally enjoyed hunting, fishing, bow hunting, bowling, gardening, watching baseball and making firewood.

Wallace is survived by his sister: Arabella Syring of Edgar, sister-in-law: Mary A. Hamann of Colby and 5 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Ralph Hamann, infant brother: Glen and brother-in-law: Rueben Syring.
