Calhoun, Lydia Jane (7 JUN 1893 – 27 JAN 1967)

At three o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 31, 1967, funeral services were conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, Owen, for Mrs. Lydia Jane Calhoun.

Mrs. Calhoun, 73, and a former resident of this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), died Friday at her home in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Rev. H.W. Luetkehoelter, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church at Withee officiated at the service, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Terry Milewski, Dennis Milewski, Daryl Calhoun, Warren Calhoun, Michael Krogness and honorary pallbearers, Tracy Milewski, Craig Calhoun and Kevin Calhoun, all grandsons.

In charge of the floral offerings were Marianne Milewski and Darlene Calhoun.

The former Lydia Jane McDaniel was born at Cashton on June 7, 1893. Her marriage to Alva Calhoun, who preceded her in death July 2, 1965, took place December 30, 1910, at Westby.

The couple came to Owen from Alma Center in 1916, and had resided here until 1952, when they moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Survivors are three sons, Carrol Calhoun, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Owen Calhoun, Sparta; and Max Calhoun, Libertyville, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Verle (Phyllis) Krogness, Bloomington, Minn.; Mrs. Frank (Virginia Mae) Milewski, Melvindale, Mich.; and Mrs. Richard (Beverly) White, Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Miss Ethel McDaniel and Mrs. Viva Heckart, both of Cashton; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
