Schrader, Michael J. "Mike" (14 FEB 1952 – 22 OCT 2016)
Michael J. “Mike” Schrader, 64, Thorp, formerly of Loyal, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Oakbrook Health and Rehab Center in Thorp. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Michael John Schrader was born on Feb. 14, 1952, in Marshfield, the son of Marvin John Sr. and Margaret Hanna Adella (nee Poppy) Schrader. In 1955, the Schrader family moved to Sturgis, Mich., where Mike received his education. In 1987, Mike and his mother relocated to Riplinger, where they lived until 1995. Mike and his mother then moved to Loyal. Upon the death of his mother on Jan. 26, 2016, Mike moved to Thorp. He had many interests, including singing, dancing and his favorite: putting models together. These included cars, trucks, ships and buildings. He accumulated literally dozens of models and was proud and happy to show anyone and everyone who visited them. Mike was a loving, caring and humble man, known for his gentle attitude, big contagious smiles, and his contemplative look that at times made you wonder what he was thinking behind that big smile. Mike never married.
He is survived by one brother: “Bro” Marv Schrader of McFarland; two sisters: Carol Margaret Steiner of Weidman, Mich., and Marie Ann Frohriep-Grams of Sparta, Mich.; nieces: Abi (Jeremy) Flora and Kristi (Chad) Nettrouer, both of Bremen, Ind., Jennifer Mobley of Ontario, Ind., Christina (Bob) Baker of Ossian, Ind., and Jennifer (Bill) Klein of Weidman, Mich.; nephews: Dane Schrader of Oregon, Jordan (Angela) Schrader of Bellevue, Brian Mobley of Chicago, Ill., Allen Frohriep of Sturgis, Mich., Jonathon (Brooke) Steiner of Mecosta, Mich., and Jason Steiner of Iron, Mich.; two brothers-in-law: Jeff Mobley of Ontario, Ind., and Larry Frohriep of Sturgis, Mich.; one aunt: Irene Peterson of Owen; one uncle: Ron (Joan) Pechmann of Wauwatosa; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Margaret; one sister: Barbara Jean Mobley; one nephew: Scotty Frohriep; and close special family friend, Warren Sweet.
