Kriehn, Catherine E. “Kay” (Schmidt) (26 AUG 1929 - 28 MAR 2015)

Catherine E. “Kay” Kriehn, age 85, of 740 McComb Avenue Rib Lake, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hope Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 11 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with Rev. James Heffner officiating.

Cremainal Interment will take place at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake.

Kay was born on August 26, 1929, in Watertown, to Carl and Lena (Daemmrich) Schmidt.

She attended Emmaus Lutheran Grade School in Milwaukee and was a 1947 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High.

Kay was married in Milwaukee to Roland “Bemmy” Kriehn. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1988.

She was a realtor in West Bend and Rib Lake throughout her life. Kay also opened up the Rib Lake Music Centre and General Store where she owned and operated it until the time of her death. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising chickens, music, singing and playing piano.

Kay was a past member of the Rib Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Rib Lake Village Board.

She is survived by her significant other, Aure “Ray” Liebl of Rib Lake; children Michael (Betty Radtke) Kriehn of Rib Lake; James (Mary) Kriehn of Helenville; Karen (Terry Lekie) Maus of Medford; and Sharon (Jeff Schrubbe) Trautmann of Stetsonville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

Kay is also survived by siblings Ted (Inez) Schmidt of Westboro and Bill (Barb) Schmidt of Menomonee Falls.

She is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Lena (Daemmrich) Schmidt; grandson Jason Smith; and sister Dorothy Schiessel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kay’s family to be designated at a later date.
